The Atlantic Avenue Mural is Almost Done!

Our team of talented Groundswell Summer Leadership students are nearly finished painting a mural in the underpass. The tentative title of the mural is “Livable Streets, Atlantic Avenue.” The BID partnered with the NYC Department of Transportation and the mural image reflects both the DOT’s livable streets’ mission and reflects the history and beauty of Atlantic Avenue as well as Brooklyn Bridge Park.

The date it will be 100% finalized is our official mural dedication ceremony: Wednesday, September 4, 2013 at 10am. The community is invited so please feel free to come – 10am near the corner of Furman Street and Atlantic Avenue.

This mural is the first step in a process to revitalize the underpass that the BID is undertaking courtesy of the NYC Department of Small Business Services’ BID Challenge grant, sponsored by Deputy Mayor Robert Steel.

The mural design coordinated with the design research and work that has been completed by our comprehensive design team, Interboro Partners.

Check out our picture from Community Painting Day, August 1, 2013, with the Groundswell team along with a few BID staff and directors.

There has also been lots of coverage on our mural in the media. Click these links for more info:
