Atlantic Avenue BID Releases BID Challenge Request for Proposals

The Atlantic Avenue Business Improvement District is taking on an
exciting design project at the western end of our district. With
funding from Deputy Mayor Robert Steel and the NYC Department of
Small Business Services, we are re-designing the space under the
Brooklyn Queens Expressway that is currently very unpleasant and
divides our shopping district from the destination park on the
waterfront side.

The below document explains the details of our request. We are
interested in what can be done to make this space a meaningful
transition zone and gateway to both Brooklyn Bridge Park and Atlantic
Avenue. On either side of the highway are really wonderful
destinations and this underpass is truly serving as an unpleasant
barrier.

Respondents may want to partner with another organization such as
a lighting designer, landscape firm, or graphic design firm to broaden
the expertise of the team you submit to us. We encourage you to seek
out the disciplines who may contribute valuable expertise for this
project.

Please do not contact the BID by phone or in person. Direct all
inquiries by email. We will release all email responses online, here:
http://bit.ly/WOL2Jc.

The deadline for responses is Tuesday, February 26, 2013.

We look forward to your creative submissions.
